COMMUNITY WORK
CHURCH WORLD SERVICE
BUCKETS
To take the compassion of Jesus to places where we cannot be ourselves, the congregation of First Congregational UCC filled buckets with clean-up supplies needed by persons who sustain property damage in natural disasters. The buckets will be sent by Church World Service (CWS) to anywhere in the world where such disaster strikes. Additional gifts were received in cash, and blessed to also be used by CWS for the same program. We are pleased to share in this project with our Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ.
COMMUNITY DONATIONS
First Congregational Church of Christ stays involved in the community with donations to various organizations! You can drop off donations Tuesday through Friday (9:30a to Noon) for those in need. Each week volunteers collect and distribute local drop off items for local missions. We recently made donations to Washington Street Mission, St. John's Breadline and Contact Ministries!
THANKSGIVING BASKETS
Thanksgiving is the time of year for our Thanksgiving Basket Program in conjunction with Temple B'rith Sholom and Temple Israel. This will be our 36th year. Detailed Information will be forthcoming. Prices are per basket and per half basket.
WHITE GIFTS PROGRAM
The observance of White Gifts Sunday as part of our Christmas benevolence goes back far! For years we have been wrapping Christmas gifts of all kinds: money, toys, clothing, food and sundries in white tissue paper, placing them before the church altar and distributing them to various agencies that serve those (especially children) in need. Over the years, we have donated to many missions
